The acoustic bass guitar is something rarely sampled, and we have sampled separate index finger and middle finger variations for every articulation, including sustains, marcatos, pops, slaps and more. (not to mention effects and slides toolbox)

The clean electric guitar is simple yet powerful – not distorted to the point of being crunchy, but its amped, not direct in. The Studio B guitars unique programming includes vibrato depth/speed control via mod wheel, while real-time harmonic feedback can be dialed in via CC knob (exclusive Resonator Technology developed with Theo Krueger). The control is unmatched in this regard, all articulations at your fingertips from one midi channel.

Last, the acoustic drum kits; recorded and programmed in the true multitrack technique used by all professional recording studios. The user is provided with eight mic positions including full bleed in every mic. One snare crack and its felt through all the mics, which can be assigned to separate outputs from Kontakt, allowing for individual gating, EQing and reverb'ing of each mic. We sampled two kits played with sticks and one kit played with hot-rod brushes.

Studio B is perfect for all digital musicians, detailed enough to satisfy the everyday user of rock/pop instruments, and affordable enough for those looking to season some of their orchestral works with a slight rock edge. And at a release sale price of $149 (marked down from MSRP of $199 until June 25th) there isnt a digital musician that can afford not to add it to their collection.

Studio B is shipping in Kontakt format on May 25th for $149.

GigaStudio/HALion formats to ship late June.

Nick Kane had spent several years lounging in various bands around Nashville and for most of the 90s he traveled around the world as a member of country-pop group The Mavericks, collecting a Grammy Award and selling out 8 nights at the Royal Albert Hall along the way.

It was Nick’s desire to play music that had its own voice, unencumbered from any commercial trappings, and in Nashville’s cold hard heart he found the perfect place to develop this dream without distraction. He was fortunate to find two like-minded cohorts in Rick Taylor, bass guitar; and Joe Scheibelhoffer, drums; together they have formed The Balls.

The new CD “The Balls.Come Out Swingin’” is a highly original piece of work. Their style has been described as garage-prog: on one hand they tackle very difficult and ambitious arrangements yet the band is driven by a raw, powerful and ferociously loud rocknroll spirit.

The listener will hear shades of early Deep Purple; grungy Link Wray; themes straight out of a Spaghetti Western; flat out paint-peeling Rock and even a touch of Pachelbel. And yet, its like youre hearing it all for the first time.

The Balls are also known for their passionate live performance and their ability to take instrumental-music neophytes on a long and winding journey, riveting the audience and leaving them exhausted, elated and with mouths agape.

In the 60′s you had Herb Albert, in the 70′s there was Jeff Beck, today you have Nick Kane.the Balls.

“The Balls.Come Out Swingin’” is available from ballsrock.com, CDBaby.com and Guitar9.com.

The same brand appear on everyone’s list.

It tells you how consistent these brands are when it comes to their products.

However, for those of you who are on their way to buying their first expensive guitar, below is a list of the brands your can take a look at.

10. Washburn

Washburn is one of the oldest and best guitar brands still in operation. while Washburn first enjoyed popularity during the Delta blues movement of the 1920s, they are still popular among punk and post-rock guitarists.

9. Yamaha

Yamaha is a big multinational corporation was established as a piano and reed organ manufacturer in 1887. Yamaha is a conglomerate and numerous organizations. but the oldest and most well-liked are the musical instruments. Yamaha has grown over the period to turn out to be the world’s largest musical instrument that produces practically all musical instruments as possible. Yamaha guitars are also 1 among the several well-known musical instruments. Yamaha guitar was a fantastic demand in the market, but has lately faced stiff competition from other well-liked counterparts. nevertheless, Yamaha guitars are still 1 of the most popular guitars in the world.

8. Danelectro

. while looked upon by some consumers as a bargain label, one of the best guitar brands, Danelectro got its start as an extremely high-end manufacturer for guitarists like Pete Townsend back in the ‘60s. Today, Danelectro makes top-notch reissues at great prices, and still makes impressive custom guitars for those that can afford it.

7. Takamine

Takamine is a Japanese guitar manufacturer based in Nakatsugawa, Gifu, Japan. Takamine is known for its steel-string guitars. The company was founded in May 1962; in 1978 they were one of the first companies to introduce acoustic-electric models, where they pioneered the design of the preamp-equalizer component.

6. Ovation

Ovation guitars are differentiated by their composite synthetic bowl, rather than the traditional wooden back and sides of the modern acoustic guitar as produced by luthiers starting in the late 18th century. Ovation has also produced solid body electric guitars and active basses. Developed starting in 1965 with the first playable guitar number 006 built by Gerry Gardner and introduced as the ‘Balladeer’ in February, 1966, Ovations reached the height of their popularity in the 1980s, where they were more often than not seen during live performances by touring artists if acoustic guitars were being played. Ovation guitars’ synthetic bowl and early use (1971) of preamps, onboard equalization and piezo pickups were particularly attractive to live acoustic musicians who constantly battled feedback problems from the high volumes needed in live venues. since the 1980s they have remained popular with studio musicians, but are less frequently seen on stage.

It’s worth more than most guitars and is considered a high demand collectible. An early Les Paul Standard with Cherry Sunburst in original condition will usually cost around $200,000. If that’s not a collectible guitar, I don’t know what is.

The most important factor in considering the collectability of this guitar is the condition of the guitar and it’s finish rather than the actual sound.

Another collectible Gibson guitar is the 1985 Gibson Les Paul Standard Plain Top VOS Guitar. This guitar comes with a carved maple top but a mahogany back. The neck is one piece and made of mahogany as well, but has a smooth rosewood fretboard. This is another famous and collectible vintage guitar. All VOS models of this guitar have a solid mahogany back with a long neck tenon. This guitar is probably worth it if you can buy it for less than $5,000.

If you can buy a original vintage Gibson sunburst guitar, it will cost you a pretty penny, but you’ll have the satisfaction of buying one of the most collectible and most high demand guitars that have ever been on the market.

In conclusion, the Gibson Vintage Sunburst guitar. and other vintage Gibson guitars are some of the best, some of the most collectible, and, to be honest, some of the most expensive guitars anyone can buy for their money. However, if you’re a guitar collector or can afford to spend extra on these vintage guitars, they can be a nice gem for your collection.

Even the beginning player knows that having sub-par pickups is going to affect the sound that your new or old guitar produces. When someone purchases a guitar that isn’t very expensive, it usually comes equipped with pickups that are either poor quality, or not to the taste of the consumer. For this reason, you can order or purchase many different pickups from many different companies to best suit the sound you desire.

Many vendors offer a wide variety of pickups for all types of guitars. Some of the main types of pickups are single-coil, humbuckers and acoustic. The single-coil picks are usually seen on the popular Fender Stratocaster. The Stratocaster is not the only guitar that carries this style of pickup. Thousands of other guitars use these as well. The one main difference between a Stratocaster and another guitar using single-coil pickups is the company that manufactures them. Fender offers top quality single-coil pickups to purchase even if your “Strat” did not come equipped with the ones you were wishing for. It is probably best to try out different guitars on the same amp to see what the best sound is for you. The single-coil pickups usually have a vintage tone, with more noticeable feedback. Fender does offer pickups that have less feedback though. Some guitars use up to three different pickups at once.

If you are searching for a more powerful tone, grabbing some humbucking pickups is the best choice. Such companies as “Seymour Duncan” and “Dimarzio” offer pickups for a wide range of guitarists. There are humbuckers for anything from a blues sound to a heavy crunch sound. These manufacturers have descriptions on whether the pickups produce a high pitch tone, or a warm, bass sound. To obtain these sounds, the pickups are loaded with different magnets, screws and wires. There are vintage sounding humbuckers as well, usually seen on the “Les Paul” style guitars by Gibson.

Acoustic guitars only require one small pickup and the variety is not as wide. Acoustic guitars don’t have nearly as many pickup choices due to the fact you are just trying to amplify the sound of the acoustic guitar and not change the acoustic tone. The three major types of acoustic pickups are soundhole pickups, soundboard transducers and undersaddle transducers. The soundhole pickups generally make your acoustic guitar sound and look more like an electric guitar. These soundhole style pickups normally sound less like the unplugged acoustic. Soundboard transducers are the most natural sounding of the three. Although they are more prone to feedback problems, they give you the more authentic sound. That just leaves the undersaddle transducers, which are less visible than the other types. The undersaddle style has a more natural sound than the soundhole pickup but is used for finger picking and light to moderate strumming. Strumming too hard, or using a heavy pick can cause the undersaddle transducer to produce an awkward sound.

After brief introductions to all the different types of pickups available today, you should have an easier time choosing which pickup or pickups suit you best. Just remember to do at least a little research before spending your hard earned money and experiment until you make a decision you will never regret.

It’s only natural that guitar systems join the majority of other wireless technology and go digital. Only now that they have been out of a good few years can we properly evaluate them. but how do they work? for analogue systems the transmitter converts the guitar sound into VHF or UHF radio waves. but in the process of being converted to VHF or UHF something called a compander is used to squash the signal so it fits into the range of VHF or UHF and then when it reaches the receiver, it is expanded out again into the original guitar sound. but inevitably when you squash the signal down like this some quality is lost. with a digital system there isn’t a compander, so there isn’t any squashing of the signal and therefore it sounds much better; the signal should arrive in exactly the same form as it left the guitar pickups. another problem with VHF or UHF systems is to do with the bandwidth, and in particular dealing with the bass noise. bottom E on a bass is 44Hz and some VHF or UHF systems simply don’t get this quality range, a similar thing can be said for higher sounds as well; some quality will be lost. a digital system will have the full range however, and minimal sound quality will be lost.

With a digital system you should get no interference at all, certainly not from anything on the VHF or UHF frequencies such as radio waves and TV signals. other digital signals such as phones, Bluetooth and wireless Internet should not be picked up by a wireless guitar system because the receiver is only searching for a digital transmission from the transmitter, which is encoded in a certain way. All other digital transmissions are ignored, so that’s why the chance of interference is virtually impossible. The weak point of digital transmission used to be range, but thanks to advances in technology this is no longer the case. you can see from the digital Line6 Relay product range they have increased the range substantially with each new model, the G30 has a 30m range, the G50 has a 60m range and the G90 has a 90m range.

So overall you have to say that digital systems seem to be superior to VHF or UHF systems, before it was hard to justify the massive amounts of money you would have to spend on a digital system but now they have come down a lot in price; you can even pick up the Joyo digital system for 87.99 (about $145) The better quality, reliability, and now equal range therefore make digital systems a great purchase. but a lot still depends on build quality. a high priced UHF system is almost certainly going to be better than a low priced digital system. but the best overall systems will be the digital ones.

A £5000 guitar used to record some of the most memorable rock music written in Scotland has been stolen.

The burgundy 1960s Gretsch Country Gentleman guitar belongs to Stuart Braithwaite, the frontman with Glasgow rock legends Mogwai.

It was stolen along with other equipment from the band’s base in Glasgow city centre and was discovered missing last Saturday night.

In all, around £15,000 worth of gear was stolen. the vintage instrument was used by Stuart to record some of Mogwai’s finest work, including happy Songs for happy People and Mr Beast.

The band are currently on tour in Australia.

Stephen Hines, an employee of the group’s record label Rock Action Records, who discovered the break-in at the band’s base, said: “This is Stuart’s recording guitar. It doesn’t even go on tour with him as it’s very precious to him. I had to break the news to him.”

Stuart said: “Everyone is gutted about this theft. we have been lucky that most of our equipment is currently on tour with us, meaning the theft could have been a lot worse.”

Other items stolen include: two Orange guitar amp heads in black flight cases; an Orange bass amp head in a black flight case; a Marshall bass amp head in a silver flight case; a natural wood-coloured Fender acoustic guitar; and a black Fender 72 Telecaster Deluxe guitar.

It is the second blow to the band this year, after they lost the entire stock of their Earth Division EP in a fire at the PIAS record distribution centre during the London riots this summer.

The release had to be reprinted.
