About Zumba Fitness
The Zumba Fitness Total Body Transformation System includes four DVDs and two toning sticks. Zumba Fitness® is the only Latin-inspired dance-fitness program that blends red-hot international music, created by Grammy Award-winning producers, and contagious steps to form a "fitness-party" that is downright addictive. Since its inception in 2001, Zumba Fitness has grown to become the world's largest and most successful dance-fitness program with more than 10 million people of all shapes, sizes, and ages taking weekly Zumba classes in over 90,000 locations across more than 110 countries.

A fitness instructor in his native Cali, Colombia, the life of Zumba program's founder, Alberto "Beto" Perez, took an unexpected turn one fateful day in the mid-'90s. He darted off to teach an aerobics class and forgot his traditional aerobics music, so he improvised using his own mix of music from tapes he had in his backpack (the salsa and merengue music he grew up with). Spontaneously, he created a new kind of dance-fitness, one that focused on letting the music move you (instead of counting reps over the music). Energy electrified the room; people couldn't stop smiling. His class loved it! And on that day, a revolutionary new fitness concept was born--the Zumba Fitness-Party.

The Exhilarate DVD features a 60-minute dance party workout that torches calories. In 2001, Beto brought his new dance-fitness style to Miami, Florida, and, through a student (Alberto Perlman's mom), met entrepreneurs Alberto Perlman and Alberto Aghion. All three hailed from Colombia and all three had a vision to bring this dynamic dance-fitness class to the masses. The three Albertos formed an alliance and created a business, calling it Zumba Fitness. They trademarked the word Zumba® and set a goal to expand the brand all over the world. First came the DVDs, then the infomercial--which introduced the Zumba Fitness-Party to the public on a wide-scale basis. That followed with the demand for Zumba classes and Zumba instructors and then the company took off and the Zumba program expanded in a big way. By 2005, Zumba Fitness spawned a full-fledged Zumba Academy to license Zumba Instructors to teach Zumba classes. More expansion followed with the launch of Zumbawear apparel and accessories, music CDs, and in 2008, one of the bestselling at-home fitness DVD series ever--the Zumba Fitness® Total Body Transformation System--which starred Beto and introduced Zumba Fitness' newest stars, Tanya Beardsley and Gina Grant. In 2010, Zumba shook the ground by being the first branded fitness program to launch a video game on all three major gaming platforms: Wii, Xbox, and PS3.

Fast forward to today, the Zumba program is now taught in gyms and studios all over the world to millions of Zumba enthusiasts. And as the program continues to evolve from its humble beginnings, to a global movement, to a way of life--its growth has only deepened the company's commitment to providing accessible fitness, without the strain, without the sacrifice, just the pure joy of a party.

Taido – An Evolving Martial Art

Taido was the brainchild of Seiken Shukumine. He started this Japanese martial art form in 1965. The meaning of Taido karate is “way of the body, and it is based on an older Okinawan fighting method known as Te. This was not the only time that Shukumine had developed a unique martial arts style. When he was only 25, he created a new kind of karate that was known as Gensei-Ryu.

Karate and other fighting styles have been widely practiced in the West for a number of years. In those years, prior to the founding of Taido, most training was rudimentary and the original techniques for this “empty handed” style of fighting remained essentially unchanged. yet, peoples perception of martial arts was changing and Shukumine was a student of philosophy and noticed what would have to be rethought as far as how traditional martial arts styles of training were concerned.

Shukumine thought that there were some issues with karate that limited the way it could be applied and learned. There wasnt enough creativity and independence and the repetitions of the essential punches and kicks would quickly cease to challenge most trainees.

This martial arts teaching consisted of rigid and uninspired movements. Karate never seemed to adapt over the years with new methods and instructions that were given to the students.

Shukumine felt that the martial arts would be accepted as a defensive art form if he could devise a way to generate more movements and techniques. He wanted to allow students the chance to be inspired by their work and for this to happen the work and teacher had to inspire them. These thoughts became the driving force that would help him to create Taido karate. Before he founded Taido, Seiken Shukumine taught a martial arts form that was called Genseirvu karate. This was widely accepted, but still he felt it wasnt enough.

He felt that he could update traditional karate movements and instruction methods, and finally after ten years of teaching Genseiryu his new Taido karate form opened. Taido is a modern, advanced styleof martial arts that employs many aerial moves. It requires a student to incorporate twists, spins, speed and changing angles of the body. Shukumine’s dream was to use Taido karate to promote the study and training of karate and other martial arts.

The purpose of Taido is to improve the awareness of the students who practice this martial arts form. Shukumine had one ultimate goal as far as the study of Taido karate was concerned. He wanted to be able to help all Taido practitioners reach their highest potential in all aspects of their lives.

The Five Principles of Taido

A Taido student should keep their thoughts are calm and clear. The mind should be as undisturbed as a placid lake. Then they will understand the reality of any situation. If the mind is kept untroubled and even it will prevent a student from being deceived.

Taido teaches students that the mind and body must be united in their purpose. They must work together as a single entity. When a person acts in the correct manner, any type of threats will not bother him.

Taido students are taught to learn to call upon the inner spirit that is at the core of their being. Once a Taido karate practitioner has achieved this level, they will cease to experience any anxiety of confrontation or battle.

If a Taido student follows these actions, he will always manage to conduct themselves in an honorable and correct manner.

Taido teaches creativity, adaptability and flexibility in both movements and ideas. When a person has the correct moves, their opponents cannot best them.

Taido’s Technical Movements

Sen- Taido techniques that involve vertical spinning. Un – movements making use of wave like motion that ascends and descends. Hen – techniques that are initiated by a toppling motion resulting in changes to the axis of the body. Nen – movements with horizontal spinning. Ten – diving or rolling motions.

Besides the punches and kicks, there are two movement ways to set up the strikes. Unsoku – fast and strategic stepping movements for controlling space and angle to the opponent. Unshin – locomotion movements that are acrobatic in nature and dont involve actual stepping on the floor.

Taido Tournament Events

There are a few special types of Taido Karate competitions that students can engage in. Jissen is the act of sparring, Taido style. Taido forms are called Hokei – closely related to kata in Karate. Tenkai- these are bouts that are acted out by teams of Taido members in which the central hero must stand against five of his “opponents” and demonstrate challenging or unique techniques.

One complaint about many synthetic medicines is how drowsy they make you feel, something that doesn’t happen with natural health products. We used these natural products long before the advent of chemical based ones without any problems.

Controlling Mistakes: Fundamental Tips for Gaining Muscle

When you are trying to build muscle, there is a lot of conflicting advice out there. You may not know where to get started.

Why not start with what not to do? Here are some factors that can delay or stall your muscle building progress:

1. Overspending on gym memberships

You may think that they only way to get a good workout is to go to a gym: they have stack-pulley, computerized, and hydraulic machines that you could never afford. And they’re safer, right? Not necessarily. Often, the low-cost exercises that you do at home are much more effective and safe. If you are considering a gym membership, you may want to save yourself the expense.

In the comfort of your own home, you can use inexpensive free weights or totally free exercises like pushups, lunges, squats, and more. These are some of the most effective moves for building muscle, and all you need is your own body and a few free weights.

2. Not changing your workout.

When it comes to exercising and building muscle, what worked for you in the beginning may not work for you now.

Perhaps, but doing the same workout after your body has adjusted to the exercise will cause your efforts to stagnate. Your body is an incredibly efficient machine. The more you practice a move, the less your body actually has to work to execute it.

Therefore, doing the same workout routine causes your body to burn much fewer calories. Add some variation. Up the intensity. Never let your body get used to anything ? it needs constant challenges. The upside is that you won’t get bored with your exercise routine.

3. Not doing any cardio.

You may think that if you want to build muscle, you restrict your exercise routine to weight training. This does not work. If you want to build muscle, you have to add cardio.

We all know that cardio can help you burn fat. For muscle builders, it also helps the body rest and recover from weight training. To get the best results, do intervals of high intensity cardio for about twenty minutes right after your weight training session.

4. Working Out Everyday

Working out everyday can also hurt your muscle building efforts. Since muscle repairs itself and develops during rest periods, it is vital to build some into your workout routine. Two or three rest days per week should be sufficient to allow your muscles to do their work.

Also, alternate which muscle groups you work on. For instance, if you work on your arms and back one day, the next day do your abs and legs. This will keep the muscles from becoming fatigued or injured and allow them to do their work.

5. Not paying attention to what you eat.

Many people neglect to consider their diet when they are trying to build muscle. But because food is such an essential part of your body’s health, you need to eat to gain muscle.

One of the best things that you can eat when you are trying to build muscle is protein. This is found in lean meat, fish, eggs, poultry, and dairy foods. Within thirty minutes after you workout, eat a snack that is high in protein.

6. Quitting.

Quitting is the biggest mistake you can make when trying to build muscle. If you have been working out and not seeing results, it is tempting to stop. Your body might just take longer to build muscle than others.

There are several things you can do if you notice your efforts are stagnating: look at your fitness routine to see if there is anything you can change. Look at your diet to see if you are eating properly. If your body just takes more time to build muscle, giving up will be a great loss.

Quitting negates all the work you have done so far. It puts you back at square one with the same body. Make some adjustments and keep fighting.

Why Ladies’ Tennis Should be Respected

Honestly, what’s the deal here?

When Steffi Graf ruled the game enthusiasts did not like it. When Venus and Serena Williams were devastating everyone on her route to the championship, tennis lovers did not enjoy it. And now when tournaments are more well balanced than before? Tennis lovers do not want this.

Most confess that the Williams sisters win easily most of the time. But injuries and abridged non-Slam tournament schedules suggest they presently meet prior to the title match. Though once more allow us to recall that just a year or two ago the above-mentioned whining with respect to this recurrent battle in the title match and their domination over the rest of the athletes.

Thus presently we have Dinara Safina at the top spot in the ranks and the US Open seedings. And what do people indicate? She doesn’t deserve it because she hasn’t won a Grand Slam (not to mention that she’s been the loser in a few slam championship of late.) But she’s reaching the slam finals and she’s reasonably entertaining along the way, on the court and off.

Earlier Safina had to fight it out yet again, virtually becoming the 1st top seed to go down in the 1st round. Was it engaging? I thought it was. But we will learn all about the illegitimacy of the rank structure, etc..

And then there was Venus Williams last night–also pushed to 3 pairs. Moreover compelling. (Furthermore note that Venus didn’t have the best of summers post Wimbledon.) But in all likelihood to be heard is the prevalence of injuries among the sisters Williams and their “distractions” off the courts.

Furthermore currently Kim Clijsters is back and instead of being wicked enthralled – which we must be because she is friendly and polite and a good player – the media are all saying “all right what does it tell regarding the women’s game that she might come out of retirement and have a six and two win-loss count for the summer year?”

Well I believe it says that she – like she consistently has -exercises extraordinarily well. And that she is a seasoned player and she has nearly nothing to lose.

So let’s specifically cease all the criticism, please. Sure, there are imperfections in the women’s game. (Such as the lack of variety in terms of playing style.) Although I myself love that it is anybody’s conjecture as to who’ll end up in that final in under 2 weeks. And I anticipate watching how they get there.

Natural Pain Relief

There is a reason we have pain and that is to stop us from injuring ourselves further as the pain will normally stop us from doing any more damage. It can be caused by anything from a dental cavity to a broken bone to a disease but once we determine where the pain is coming from, we can diagnose and address the health problem, thus relieving the pain. Sometimes, however, pain isn’t dealt with so easily and it remains with us despite all efforts to banish it.

People in this situation are said to be suffering with ‘chronic pain’ which is a persistent feeling, the type that exists with back pain for example and unlike those of ‘acute pain’ which is intense but can be treated. Around the world, many people live with chronic pain throughout their lives and it can happen at anytime for almost any reason. Chronic pain often long outlives its original cause, worsening over time and taking on a life of its own and the longer chronic pain goes untreated, the worse it becomes.

Unfortunately, prescription medication, which is the normal way to deal with the pain, can become ineffective over prolonged periods requiring higher doses and the chance of dangerous side effects increase; now people are turning to wards more natural pain relief methods. One such natural pain relief method is the use of acupuncture, a treatment that has origins many thousands of years old. The Chinese use acupuncture to treat and cure many ailments by inserting long very thin needles into the skin.

Many people swear by its effectiveness claiming it can help with migraine, depression, arthritis and of course back pain. Herbal remedies are another time-tested alternative to conventional therapies, providing natural pain relief to sufferers without many of the unwanted side effects of conventional medicines. One example is vitamin E which is a natural pain relief treatment for people suffering with painful scarring.

Some people do not like using these herbal remedies, not because they do not provide enough relief but because they take longer to work; the plus side is that nothing synthetic is entering the system that can harm it. However, one of the best ways to avoid even the need for natural pain relief is to adapt your lifestyle by adopting a healthy diet with plenty of fruit, whole grains and vegetables, with a reduction in the consumption of processed foods. Many people cut back on the amount of sleep they have which is a mistake as sleep in the correct amounts is a time when the body repairs itself but exercise should not be forgotten either as even walking is a very healthy physical activity.
