ask the shop. glossy finishes are usually poly and are on most low end guitars. everyone reckons nitro sound better, but there are great guitars with poly finishes.
if it sounds good to you, buy it, im a bit of a traditionalist, and if you like it, dont listen to anyone else.
hi! so how am i supposed to know what kind of coating is on a guitar im checking out at the store? [i didnt understand..again- what kind is good? and what kind is bad?]. And p.s- does it really matter? cause at the end, u just listen to the sound the guitar makes..so if its good, u just take it ? :]

Introducing the “TAYLIN” guitar!!

?!…wow
what song was the intro
A lot of district managers for products don’t give a damn about what they’re flogging, they’re just good at keeping an eye on the process.
Problem is that I live in the EU, where every price is stuffed with VAT, so a $1000 guitar suddenly becomes a €1000 guitar. I now have the cheapest full-size Taylor I could get, and I love it. I would like to have a D-16, and if possible a D-28.
Which Martin have you got?
if you ever want to put effects on the output sound of your guitar, delay, loop etc, then yes
Taylor is probably slaughtering them in sales these days.
You would think that being a district Manager for C.F. Martin Joe Mac would be a little more versed in his product. Doesn’t seem to be very passionate about his product. But hey, maybe he just doesn’t fell comfortable in front of a camera?!?! What do I know……..
my heaven
no
the high gloss is poly automotive paint, cheaper and easier to shoot.
would a non-pro ever really consider electronics in their acoustic guitar? I can’t see myself ever performing, would I need a wired guitar?
I’m still a Takamine man, no mater what! Love my Blonde <3
I love Martin, but in this case i think the Taylor 214 sounds better and is cheaper, is only mine opinion
I def. looks like Martin is trying to make a “Taylor-like” guitar.
I got one for $1000. I was able to pay it off in a year with no interest at Guitar Center.
I really like it. I wouldn’t mind having a Taylor either, though.
If you play bluegrass, you play a Martin. If you play in a praise band, you play a Taylor. This new Martin series should compete well against the Taylor. The video under-emphasized the awesome-ness of the electronics being digital samples of 9 world class microphones, since the main goal of an electrified acoustic is to still sound like an acoustic. I love my Martin D28 with a Schertler pickup.
I’m with you! I hate all this shit that guitar manufacture are doing like the robot guitar or the fender strat that has sounds built in. All I’m I’m saying is that if I wanted my strat to sound like a 12 string I would buy a real damn 12 string. haha
ya I don’t like it that much eigher but you have to power onboard electronics somehow and the new systems that they are putting in are way better than the passive pickups that use to be used,
all Takamines have a finish on them, just like all martins… on some models a flat or satin finish is used, it makes the guitar cheaper to produce and sell. High gloss coatings are more work and take more time. Lower end models use the flat and satin finish.. the coatings used today on high end guitars are super thin and do not effect the vibration of the top
those Martin’s have a really nice sound, but I still prefer Ovation
just my opinion
Nope your not the only one
